After being T-boned by another vehicle, you may have looked over your car to assess the damage and decided that it was not too bad. While there may be dents, you may believe that the car is still drivable.

However, there may be an unseen problem if the car's frame suffered damage. Since the frame is crucial not only for keeping the vehicle sturdy but also for passenger safety, you should have your vehicle inspected if you start noticing either or both of the signs below.

1.  You Suddenly Have to Fight the Steering Wheel to Drive Straight

One sign that your car's frame may have been damaged during your recent T-bone collision is if you have to fight the steering wheel just to be able to drive straight. This problem will come on suddenly, as opposed to the gradual issue of tire wear or misalignment.

When the frame is bent, it can knock your car's wheelbase out of alignment. If the misalignment of the frame and wheelbase is severe, the tires themselves may be crooked enough to strike the body of the vehicle.

Even a small bend in the frame can give you problems when trying to control your vehicle. If something is not done about it, the bend could become worse, and the misalignment could cause damage to the tires, rims, or tire rods.

2.   You Hear Squeaking or Rubbing Noises Coming from the Sides of Your Car

Another sign that your car's frame has suffered damage is when you start hearing strange noises that seem to emanate from the sides of the vehicle. You may hear a squeaking or rubbing sound that was not present before the accident.

If you are hearing a squeaking noise, the tire rods or wheels may have been knocked loose. If you hear rubbing, the tires may be skewed enough to hit the wheel well or car body as you are driving. Not only would this make the tires wear down faster, but it can also make handling your car difficult enough to affect your ability to safely drive it.

If you are noticing the above while driving your vehicle, there is a strong possibility that the frame was damaged. If you do not have it checked out, your car will become increasingly difficult to maneuver, and there may be further damage to the wheelbase and undercarriage. Take your car to a shop that offers auto body collision repair services as soon as possible to have the frame inspected and to discuss any available options for fixing the damage.
